The old Marylebone Town Hall is a major London landmark fronting Marylebone Road and at the corner of Gloucester Place. It represents an outstanding example of early 20th Century municipal architecture with its magnificent tower and arcaded and stepped entrance, guarded by carved stone lions. The main Council House was constructed just before the First World War, whilst the annexe which is an outstanding example of art deco architecture, was added in the late 1930s.
Although wishing to maintain some form of presence within the buildings Westminster City Council is now looking to secure the most appropriate alternative use(s) for this prestigious accommodation which will conserve and protect the fabric of these important listed buildings whilst at the same time offering the opportunity for a range of uses.
